Let’s Discover Hidden Talents

THE FOURTH MEETING IN LITHUANIA

18th -25th OCTOBER 2014

 

18-19th October (Saturday-Sunday)

 

Project partners from Poland, Catalonia-Spain, Turkey and Greece arrived in Vilnius. Erica and Inga collected the guests. The teachers were taken to “Vaidila” hotel in Alytus. Guest children were met at the hotel by Lithuanian host families and were taken to to their places.

 

20th October (Monday)

 

The project guests have been picked up from their staying places to Alytus Piliakalnis Progymnasium in order to participate in a welcoming event which took place at the School Performance Hall. The school was  decorated with national flags, posters and other attributes of all participating countries.

After the coffee break  Comenius partners were taken to Alytus city municipality, where the guests were greeted by the mayor and other members of local government. During this visit the guests were shown a film about the history of Lithuania. Then the guests were collected by local tourist guides and had a short trip around Alytus city.

After lunch the students participated in a workshop during which they  plaited “bracelets of friendship”, while the teachers had visits to a nursery “Girinukas”, primary school “Sakalelis“, Saltiniai basic school and Adolfas Ramanauskas-Vanagas gymnasium. During these visits the project partners got aquainted with the peculiarities of  Lithuanian educational system.

 

21th October (Tuesday)

 

In the morning all Comenius teams gathered by the school and went on a trip to Trakai and the capital city Vilnius,  where the guests visited  the Palace of Grand Dukes of Lithuania and went  on a sightseeing tour of Vilnius.

22st  October (Wednesday)

Lithuanian team and project partners went on a trip to resort city Druskininkai (the largest resort city in Lithuania) and participated in an educational program “Salty lesson”. Children and their teachers got aquainted with the expositions of salt sculptures and created works from the salt crystals. Afterwards, everybody went sightseeing.

 

23rd October  (Thursday)

 

During the first lesson the guest children went to classrooms and watched lessons of different subjects, while the teachers of the project gathered for a discussion.Then the project partners got acquainted with the environment of Piliakalnis Progymnasium, including the school’s museum of ethnography. After children’s participation in a workshop “A tree of frienship” all Comenius teams went to Alytus museum of ethnograpy, where everybody participated in a chosen educational program such as “Making paper”, “Felts”, “Wonders of straw”.

In the evening ensemble “Flapper” arrived at the school and gave its wonderful performance.

 

24th October ( Friday)

 

The last day of the project meeting started with the teachers’ discussion. Participants analyzed the tasks,which will have to be completed till the following meeting in Spain.

 

Polish team had the responsibility to gather the collages “Sport in my country” (posters, photos).

 

Catalonian team was responsible for gathering songs’ records: European, native and students’ creation song.

 

Greek team’s responsibility was to prepare Comenius calendar (students’ drawings) and get them printed.

 

Polish team took a responsibility for collecting pictures of classrooms Christmas decorations.

 

All Comenius teams had to make 15 gifts to one project team.

 

Catalonian team had to collect power point files, pictures and videos “Sport at my school” (traditional game and team game).

 

All Commenius partners agreed on the songs which students had to learn till the visit to Spain-“Have you ever seen the rain”, “Carrie” (proposed by Catalonians)

 

**The dates of the following meetings were clarified.

 

*The fifth meeting in Spain :  19-25 April 2015

 

*The final meeting in Greece : 31 May - 06 June 2015

 

 While the teachers were discussing, the children participated in a workshop “Postcards-regards”. The participating children made cards and wrote wishes to each other. After the coffee break all project participants had prepared for a talent show “I can”. In the evening the talent show “I can” was held, during which each team had to show 2 talents.  The students gave an excellent performance. All the school community parents, children and teachers watched the talent show “I can” and was impressed by the performances of participating children.

 

 

The guests evaluated the performance of the  meeting in Lithuania and  filled an evaluation form which was given by Lithuanian team. The attendance certificates of the meeting were given to all participants in the final ceremony. The farewell ceremony was prepared by the Lithuanian teachers and students.

Everybody in Comenius team were satisfied with the organization of the project meeting and we are sure we will have an excellent collaboration with the partner schools till end of the project.
