Lithuanian visit was an unforgettable experience for me.

From the first moments of our visit, I felt the warmth and sincerity of all Project team members. Hosting of our students and our accommodations were  planned perfectly.  It was a good opportunity for me to get familiar with Lithuanian culture and history. The Lithuanian school hosted us very professionally and I am impressed by the school’s  facilities about education. I admired their handworks, creations of art. They used natural materials and got many different nice works, now I have a large photograph collection of these  works. I always took pictures of each detail in schools and  in the environment.  I would like to thank all team members who  contributed this Project.

I had another unforgettable week in Alytus. I found many similarities and differences  in our culture and Lithuanian culture. I had a chance to observe Lithuanian spectacular  landscape, climate and flora. I cannot forget those colorful  leaves covering the land like a carpet. It was amazing. During our visit at school, I am impressed by the quality of education and their dedication to improve the standards. I liked the trips to Vilnius, to Beautiful Trakai and to the Peaceful Druskininkai. The music, the dance, the food and the traditional songs  gave me a full understanding about their tradition and culture.

Lima, Daina and their team had a perfect planning to make us enjoy all the program. I felt myself at home in this beautiful country among friendly people. I appreciate Lima’s, Daina’s, Inga’s and Erika’s great efforts to make everything go fine.

A comment on our visit to Alytus, Lithuania

The pedagogical team of our school has returned home after having visited Alytus in Lithuania on the occasion of the European Comenius Programme entitled “Let’s discover hidden talents”. This visit made an excellent impression on us. At the same time, we were given the opportunity to engage in several educational activities as well as get together and creatively cooperate with the pedagogical teams of the schools of the other countries involved in this programme.

First, we visited the Alytus Town Hall where we were warmly received by the mayor himself who made a brief reference to the history, economy and culture of the town. Moreover, it was made clear that the country is very keen on the European idea and it is willing to realize all kinds of European programmes. Finally, the mayor and the vice mayor of education announced that supporting schools that realize European programmes is one of the top priorities of the municipal authorities.

Our tour continued with our visit to the main city sights and the wonderful parks, all of which favourably impressed us. During the same day, we visited four schools in Alytus where we had the opportunity to familiarize with the different Levels of Education and the Educational System in general which serves different educational and social care needs.

During our stay, we went on two day-trips which included several educational activities/events. The first one was an excursion to Vilnious, the capital city of Lithuania. There, we marvelled at the imposing palaces and the medieval castles and we had the pleasure of visiting the Royal Palace. As we were touring the Royal Palace, there was medieval music played with medieval musical instruments. The second was an excursion to Druskininkai where, among other activities, we actively participated in several craftwork technics such as the art of sculpture and the plastic art. The raw material that we used was salt found in great amounts in the waters of the area.

Similar teaching approaches and educational activities took place in the Alytus Ethnological Museum.

We wish to congratulate the organizers on their work. We would also like to thank the families that offered hospitality to our pupils and made them feel at home.

In June 2015, we will be the hosting country and we wish to offer back our hospitality and organize a successful meeting event with the support of the municipal authorities and the Parents’ Association.
