Stanislaw Staszic Primary School No. 1 is located in the center of Piła. It is the oldest school in our city. It started May 1, 1945.  In the school year 2012/2013 our school educates 466 students, aged 6-12. There are 46 teachers and 22 auxiliaries and economy  workers. Our students are faced with many problems. One of them is that the huge number of students in adapting educational requirements in all subjects-69pupils. Our students live in disadvantaged area and a  lot of our students' parents are unemployed and some of them have financial problems. 130 students are raised by a single parent. and 62 pupils we can call "European half-orphans", because one parent or both parents live and work abroad. We are trying to do everything to assure them the best start in their adult life. We have renovated school hallways, classrooms repainted and fully equipped common room at school. At the school there is a complex of school playing fields, a playground and a pitch called "Orlik".School and sport facilities are often used by parents and students, because they spend free time here. Besides school lessons, our school motivates students through artistic activities and sport. The school offers a wide range of after school clubs. Our students can develop their interests and talents in more than 30 clubs: integrated knowledge, art, drama, singing, dancing and science clubs for younger children. Older students can attend ICT, biking, musical, historical, sport, art and crafts, charity and liturgical clubs.  We lead a lot of actions connected with book crossing or recycling and  help  disabled children to supply them in wheel chairs or to help them to  take part in rehabilitation. We realize many projects: Alfred advises, Unicef  Schools Club, School of Discovers of Talents,A Springboard to Success, Joyful School.   We would like to help our pupils to achieve their full potential, open them to the  cultures of the world. We have never been involved in Comenius project yet.  Participating in Comenius project " Let's discover hidden talents" we want to give our students the opportunity to discover their different often unknown by themselves talents, to discover Europe and learn about different cultures,  to make new friends, to improve their English. This project gives the opportunity for every child to be developed as a European citizen.It will help them to become more tolerant and open minded. We would like to share and gain new experiences.
