CATALAN MEETING

In February we have held a preparatory meeting at Pompeu Fabra school in Reus (Catalonia). All Comenius partners decided to hold a preparatory meeting since Lithuanian partners couldn’t attend our first meeting in Poland where some action items were decided. Moreover, the Greek school was accepted in the project in December and they were not aware of the different coming actions and activities. We considered it was necessary to hold this meeting so that our project coordinator could explain in detail all the project activities to all partners. It has been a very productive meeting.

All the activities have been clarified and discussed deeply. On the other hand, it was the first time we met together and it has been a really nice experience to share opinions and points of view. Besides, we have had a really great time together.

My impression from Reus

From 3lutego to 8 February 2014 in Reus, Catalonia, took place the second  visit of the project "Let's discover hidden talents." For the first time we all met together.  This working visit was really  needed for all partners to discuss and define the tasks included in the project. Some activities have required a deeper discussion  to be more attractive in the way of implementation, not only for  teachers and students travelling to the partner countries, but also for  those children who pursue them  at school. We would like to thank partners from  Pompeu Fabra school  for organizing meeting and being the  host of the visit.  Teachers and students of Escola Reus were very hospitable, welcoming and friendly. We liked the decorations in the school,  a concert of English songs performed by the students, classrooms.  We had opportunity to try a variety of regional dishes, visit Reus and take part in the concert of flamenco. The greatest impression made on us wonderful atmosphere in the school, the atmosphere of friendship and goodwill among students and teachers. We are glad to be back there again next year in April. We will go to Reus together with our students. We can not wait.

In the beginning of February, Alytus Piliakalnis basic school director Laima Vince Kirkliauskiene, English Senior teacher Inga Marciulaitienė and Lithuanian language teacher Audrone Balciuniene were in efficient project partners meeting in Reus, Spain. During the meeting, the project has been adjusted program of the project, discussed on the activities of the students, consulted on further meetings. Project participants were welcomed by Reus basic school community, which surprised us with its sincerity, warm relationships and innovative students’ activities. We saw some of lessons and workshops.  There are about 300 students from 3 years to 6th grade. We were charmed by exciting educational environment, special work clothes, safe school courtyards, sincere teachers’ assistants. We had also got thoughtful leisure time. We visited Reus's main sightseeing places, learned to dance Zumba, listened to chamber music, visited Tarragona's old town.

We returned with new ideas and indelible impressions from Spain. We look forward for the new meetings with project  partners. We will go  to  Turkey with our students in the end of May, and in October we will meet our  Project partners in our  school. There will be also held two more meetings in Greece and Spain.

“LET’S DISCOVER HIDDEN TALENTS”

SECOND (intermediate) MEETING IN REUS

3rd - 8thFebruary 2013

The need to organize this intermediate meeting came up because two partners (Greece and Lithuania) had not been able to attend the meeting in Pila (Poland) in October. In the case of Greece, this was due to the delayed approval of the project by the Greek State Scholarship Foundation (December 2013, two months later).

During this meeting which –for the Greek team– was also about getting to know the Comenius partners, the activities that had been initially proposed for the 2-year project were rearranged and reappointed. Moreover, the participants agreed on the deadlines and they also determined in detail the responsibilities and the duties of each team. It was really hard work from morning till late afternoon on daily basis. However, all participants cooperated successfully and in the end everyone agreed that the meeting was really necessary, just as the project coordinator had pointed out.

The two teams arrived in Barcelona airport on February 3rd and they received a warm welcome by the school headmistress, the project coordinator and many other teachers. Then, they were taken to the hotel in Reus. The next day, the participants were taken to the school accompanied by Noelia and Mar. There, they attended a welcoming event organized by the pupils and teachers of the school. Finally, all partners offered each other some gifts. Right after that, all the participants got down to work. At noon, they had lunch at the school with the teachers and they went back to the hotel in the afternoon. The daily programme was similar during the coming week until Friday 7th February.

During the meeting the Comenius participants spent a lot of time at the school and as a result, they had the opportunity to meet with and get close to not only the staff of the school but also the pupils. This made them realize how hard the Catalan team had already worked on the general and the specific goals of the programme.

On Saturday 7th February the Catalan partners took all Comenius participants to the nearby city of Tarragona. From there, the teams went to Barcelona airport by bus.

All in all, that was a very fruitful meeting which shows that the project will have a successful outcome.
